SUEZ brings some festive cheer to Huyton
SUEZ recycling and recovery UK are delighted to bring some extra festive cheer to Huyton this year by sponsoring the village centre’s Christmas tree.
The tree – which is located in the centre of Huyton Village and stands 25ft tall – was officially switched-on on Friday 16 November 2018 with a large Christmas celebration which coincided with the popular Foodie Friday event.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said: “I am delighted that SUEZ sponsored the Christmas tree which has created a truly festive feeling in the village for residents, businesses and visitors alike. This is another great example of partnership working and thank you to SUEZ for working in partnership with Knowsley Council to achieve such an impressive display.”
Stephen Sharkey, Manager of the SUEZ rail transfer loading station on Knowsley Industrial Estate, said “When we heard that Huyton had been without a Christmas tree for a couple of years, we were delighted to be able to step in and do our bit for the local community.”
SUEZ manages Merseyside and Halton’s residual waste – waste that has not and cannot be recycled – which is used to generate sustainable electricity. Residual waste from across the region comes to a rail transfer loading station on Knowsley Industrial Estate where it is put in to rail containers and sent to an energy-from-waste facility in Teesside to generate electricity.
A visitor centre at the rail transfer loading station was recently opened and tours of the facility are available to local groups.
